Fiber Intake Rules!

MyFitnessPal – Get this app!

If you are trying to lose weight, gain weight, maintain weight then this app is a must.  Tracking calories and macronutrients are key to achieving your fitness goals.

I will talk about macronutrients, what they are and what the significance of having each in your diet is in the future.  But today I want to talk about possibly the most important part of your diet, in terms of losing weight and remaining healthy.

Fiber.

Yes, it’s not sexy or cool and that’s why it’s not talked about but fiberis probably the most important thing to track in your diet behind calories when you are trying to lose weight.

MyFitnessPal did an excellent study showing that the main reason a person successfully loses weight is actually their fiber intake.

Fiber rich foods = plenty of vegetables and fruit in your diet.

Alan Aragon – one of the best nutrition experts in the world (and he also coached Pete Sampras, the tennis legend!!!  So he has to know his stuff) recommends eating around 15 grams of fiber for every 1000 Kcal of your diet.

Again you can track all of this stuff using MyFitnessPal. And no, I’m in not affiliated with this app, I’m only saying they’re awesome because I genuinely believe that the app is really great!
