It used to be that you could take shortcuts to get to the top. If you knew the right people, had some insider knowledge or someone was kind enough to tell you the secret steps to take, you could get ahead of everyone.
But we now find ourselves in a world where anyone can connect with anyone and where all the secret steps can be easily found online.
It turns out that if everyone takes the same shortcuts, then it’s not a shortcut anymore.
Nowadays, the undervalued, overlooked “shortcut” is actually; to do great work, being sincere, staying in for the long haul, having a strong point of view, staying close to the people you serve.
There are no shortcuts anymore.
